Humanities Writing Competition - Girton College, Cambridge.
On February 14th 2017 Corpus Christi College will be holding a Philosophy Study Day for state school students, aiming to introduce various areas of philosophy to interested Year 12 students. The day will be led by Dr Anna Marmadoro and will involve attending students completing an essay task entry in advance as part of their application to attend.
Newly released details: The University of Gloucester runs a RS and Philosophy competition open to both year twelve and year thirteen pupils. First prize is an ipad with amazon vouchers for runners up. The word limit is 1,500 (including footnotes) words and the deadline is October 24th. The website says that the essay can be any form (i.e Platonic style dialogues permitted!).
Academic competitions for schools and colleges Several colleges and departments of the University of Oxford run competitions which are open to students from schools and colleges. Preparing an entry for one of these competitions is a valuable experience for academically motivated students, so please do encourage your students to enter.
